4.49 Wat is evangelisatie?
De Kerk heeft vanaf het eerste begin mensen uitgezonden met de missie om het Evangelie, het Woord van God, overal te verkondigen. Alle gedoopte gelovigen hebben van Jezus zelf de opdracht gekregen om het Evangelie te verkondigen aan wie het maar wil horen (Mar 16,15)Mar 16,15: Hij zei hun: ‘Trek heel de wereld door om aan elk schepsel de goede boodschap te verkondigen.”. Dat doen ze in de eerste plaats gewoon door hun manier van leven.
Paus Johannes Paulus II riep op tot een Nieuwe Evangelisatie, die gericht is tot alle mensen die het Evangelie van Jezus nog niet kennen of die niet langer een levend geloof hebben.
How is the Good News spread?
From the very beginning the first disciples burned with the desire to proclaim Jesus Christ in order to lead all to faith in him. Even today, from the loving knowledge of Christ there springs up in the believer the desire to evangelize and catechize, that is, to reveal in the Person of Christ the entire design of God and to put humanity in communion with him. “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son” (Jn 3:16). Jesus, sent by the Father to mankind, communicates the abundance of life to every believer (cfr. Jn 10:10)... His Gospel must become ‘communication’ and mission. The missionary vocation summons every Christian; it becomes the very essence of every testimony of concrete and living faith. It is a mission which traces its origins from the Father’s plan, the plan of love and salvation which is carried out through the power of the Spirit, without which every apostolic initiative is destined to failure.
