DeoQuest and TweetignwithGOD

Frequently Asked Questions

What information can I find in Tweeting with GOD?

The DeoQuest resources cover all major aspects of the Christian faith in hundreds of Questions. Topics include God, faith, Bible, the Church, prayer, the saints, social teaching and Christian life. The answers are presented in an attractive, modern style in various online and offline resources. Each book is richly illustrated and stands on its own. One can simply open the book anywhere and just start reading. The same applies to the apps, which give direct access to hundreds of clear and concise answers. This is helpful for those who are not used to reading longer texts.

Do I need the DeoQuest books or do the apps suffice?

The books and apps complement each other, but can also be used independently. The apps provide a connection between the books and the online content using AI. Users with both books and apps benefit from all the possibilities DeoQuest offers.

What do the abbreviations CCCC, CCC, and Youcat mean?

In the DeoQuest resources you will find references to other texts that can help to explore the subject in greater depth. In the books these references are found under the heading “Read more”, and in the apps or website under the heading “From the Wisdom of the Church”. These texts are derived from several sources:

  • CCC is an abbreviation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which was approved for the entire worldwide Church. A catechism is a book that explains the faith in a correct theological manner, approved by the Church authorities.
  • CCCC is short for Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, a concise edition of the complete Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC).
  • Youcat is an acronym for Youth Catechism, a version of the Catechism of the Catholic Church specifically intended for young people. Like the CCCC, Youcat is a summary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
  • DoCat offers a compendium of the social teaching of the Church, giving an overview of the Church's position on social questions with regard to different aspects of life, health, justice, poverty, labour, ethics...

What is the relationship between Youcat and DeoQuest?

Youcat and DeoQuest offer two different ways of deepening the faith, aimed primarily at young people. We often work together. DeoQuest is based on the questions posed by young people in this day and age. The answers originate in the logic of faith and the link with one’s own life, with due attention to the wisdom of the Church. Youcat starts with the questions of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and wants to answer these briefly in a way that young people can understand. DeoQuest regularly refers to questions from Youcat and explores these further. Every person is different and it is, therefore, good to have several resources that explain the faith. In this way, everyone can find a format that suits them.

How can I use the scan function in the app?

The apps include a SCAN feature which links any double page to online content. The technique is simple:

  1. Click on the SCAN icon in the app
  2. Point the camera to the large image at the top left-hand side of each double page in the book
  3. The app then opens the available information related to this Questions, and provides suggestions for interesting Questions to read

How is DeoQuest funded?

DeoQuest depends entirely on donations. In many ways we try to achieve a lot with limited resources. For example, we work with hundreds of volunteers and a small permanent team, based in different continents. Nevertheless, there are high costs associated with developing and maintaining the apps and websites, international contacts and support, as well as for translating the initiatives into other languages. All donations are used exclusively to fund DeoQuest and connected initiatives.

How can I support DeoQuest?

You can support us in various ways:

  • With a financial donation, either by bank transfer or directly online. See the Donate section for a step by step explanation. We thank you in advance for your contribution!
  • You can help us by praying for DeoQuest, our initiatives, team, volunteers, donors and everyone who finds our materials useful.
  • You can send us tips and suggestions for further improvement.
  • You can join our global team of volunteers. Please fill out the subscribe form or contact us for more information.

What Foundations are related to the work of DeoQuest?

The financial responsibility for DeoQuest lies with two independent foundations with similar goals. Both foundations depend entirely on donations for their income:

  • The JP2 Foundation, based in Leiden, the Netherlands, has been set up to receive donations and offer a transparent overview of the way these are spent. The Foundation is committed to helping people to think and learn more about God and to give their relationship with Jesus a place in their lives.
  • The Foundation Deus Providebit, based in Rome, has been set up to sustain our small international DeoQuest office in Rome as well as part of the administrative tasks. It also maintains relations with the Vatican and Italy with regard to the use of our resources. The Foundation intends to root Christian evangelisation in solidarity, sharing the beauty of the faith and helping people to advance in their lives.

Who publishes the DeoQuest books?

For every language and in every country a contract can be signed with a local or international publisher interested in distributing and promoting the DeoQuest resources. While distribution is mainly the task of the local publisher, we work together on local and international promotion of the books and related resources. Publishers who are interested in the books can contact us.
